Texas Premed Consulting was created with one goal: to guide applicants through the unique challenges of the TMDSAS application system. Veronica expanded her knowledge through deep connections with experts, former and current admissions directors, and the Director of TMDSAS. As a member of the TAAHP, Veronica continues to stay updated and connected with Texas medical schools.

To help as many students as possible achieve their goals of being admitted to medical school.
About Veronica
She started as a premed over 30 years ago and attended a health magnet high school, but lacked the support and resources to get into medical school. So when her daughter expressed a dream of becoming a physician, she made it her mission to seek out every possible resource to support her, and now she helps other students.
She has two daughters and three grandpups, and frequently travels to visit them in California and San Antonio.
While living in the Austin area, she enjoys propagating and growing plants, hand-knitting, puzzles, volunteering in her community, traveling, spending time with friends and Sir Winston, her Cavapoo, and reading.

About Lesley
Lesley brings 19 years of dedicated experience in pre-health professions advising, driven by a deep commitment to mentoring students aspiring to serve others. She is the recipient of the TAAHP Outreach and Engagement Award, recognized for her leadership in outreach and helping thousands of students envision futures in the health professions.
She spent 25 years at The University of Texas at Austin, including serving as Director of the Health Professions Office from 2012 to 2026, providing strategic leadership and expert guidance to pre-health students. Lesley also played a key role in the Joint Admissions Medical Program (JAMP), spending 10 years supporting diverse, high-achieving students in their journey to become physicians.
She holds an MS in Counseling from Texas A&M–Corpus Christi and a BA in Journalism from Texas State University.

About Varinia
Varinia Grannum has over 12 years of premed advising experience, including roles as Assistant Dean of Pre-Health and STEM Advising at Hofstra University and Medical School Admissions Advisor and Director of Student Success at a private consulting company.
She holds a Master’s in Counseling (College Student Development) and a BA in Psychology and English, and brings keen attention to detail and strong editing skills to help students effectively showcase their passion for medicine.

About Sue
Sue Afsari is a senior medical school admissions strategist and writing specialist with 12 years of experience.
With a deep understanding of the AAMC Core Competencies and current admissions trends, Sue helps applicants highlight the clinical insights and professional maturity that set them apart, guiding applicants to acceptances at Top 20 programs and other prestigious programs. She helps students highlight clinical insights, professional maturity, and personal passion for medicine.
Sue holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BA in English from Michigan State University, with 20+ years in strategic planning, marketing, and educational consulting.
